‘The Other Bette’ – Photo Exhibition by Kelly Williams – March 28th – April 25th

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you know about a new exhibition I have coming up for my photo series entitled, ‘The Other Bette.’  The series documents Staten Island icon, Donna Maxon, as she transforms herself into one of the world’s best Bette Midler tribute artists.  The behind-the-scenes photos give viewers a glimpse into the life of celebrity impersonators and examines Donna’s evolution from being known solely as the ‘other Bette’ to finding her own voice as an artist.  To view the photos in the series, please visit http://kelly-williams.com/index2.php#/gallery1/1/
The exhibition is being shown alongside the cabaret show, “Bette and Barry—Back to the Bathhouse.”  Donna Maxon, as the Divine Miss M, stars with musical director, Fonda Feingold, who plays Barry Manilow.  Performing a hilariously bawdy act of tunes, monologues, and jokes, the duo proudly pays homage to the partnership that Midler and Manilow began at New York’s Continental Baths in 1970.
Opening night for the exhibition will be next Wednesday, March 28th at Freshtarian Restaurant, located at 691 Bay Street in Staten Island.  The show will continue on Wednesday evenings through April 25th.  The show begins with dinner at 7:00 p.m., and show time is at 8:00 p.m.  Dinner and the show is $32, and reservations can be made by calling (718) 420-0091.
See you at the show!

Kelly

“Fuck you” photo shoot — volunteers needed

(***Date change…***)FUCK YOU PHOTO SHOOT — VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

I am a fine art portrait photographer and am continuing a project which focuses on the power of language in our society. Specifically, I am investigating the many ways the phrase “Fuck You” can be said and the emotions it can evoke.

For this project, I am looking for volunteers to have their portraits taken while they utter the phrase, “fuck you.” You can say it any way you wish: angry, sexy, nonchalant, whatever. Wear what you want, look however you want — the only important thing is how you say the key phrase. I am not looking for nudity, but if that is how you choose to express yourself, then fine and I am not imposing any restrictions.

I will be shooting in a professional studio on Wednesday, November 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. I would like to shoot as many people as I can. The shoot should only take :15 per person. There is no payment for this shoot, but I am happy to send you the photos afterwards, and can also shoot a quick headshot or two for you if there is time. The photos will all be in black and white with a minimal background. The goal of the photos is a fine art gallery exhibition or magazine publication; these photos are not being taken for commercial purposes. You can see examples of the photos here on my website: http://kelly-williams.com/index2.php#/gallery3/1/

Come by right after work — I expect the shoot to only take 15 minutes per person. The only thing I ask if that you please email be to RSVP so that I know how many people are coming.
